Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeHi. My name is Barbara Corcoran, and thanks for joining us on this very exciting broadcast where you'll get to meet some of the brightest emerging minds of the tech world. Welcome to Comcast NBCUniversal's The Farm Demo Day 2020. Over the past 3 months, 10 amazing teams have been working tirelessly in The Farm's Accelerator program. Today is their graduation, where one founder from each team presents a cutting-edge idea that might just have the potential to change the world. So what is The Farm's Accelerator program? It's a business boot camp based in Atlanta, Georgia, that, in short, teaches entrepreneurs how to avoid the pitfalls of a start-up and how to best succeed. The participants are called founders because they've done exactly that, founded a new company. The Farm had hundreds of applications for this year's Accelerator program. But only 10 of the brightest were accepted. The pitches you are going to see today are a declaration of the next generation of tech companies, with our founders at the helm, are ready to launch. Hey, welcome, founders.

attendeeNow each of these CEOs has 3 minutes to bring their concept to life and to inspire us all. With everything from influencer platforms, health tech, social media innovation and blockchain technology, each idea is a unique and exciting business venture. Good luck, founders. Offering expert insight into each pitch and its business potential, I'm joined today by 3 accomplished business leaders, our mentors. Ruth Dawson is the Senior Vice President of Comcast Labs and Comcast Technology product and experience development group. Ruth has spent a large part of her career building world-class software and innovative engineering teams. Anne Herron has been a founder and is an expert in product strategy. Anne has worked with organizations large and small, but she just loves coordinating creative chaos of a start-up space. Go figure. And finally, let me introduce you to Steve Bachman, who is a serial entrepreneur, angel investor and adviser with multiple exits in technology, software and service companies. Steve's area of expertise are in corporate strategy and sales growth challenges. So mentors, what are you most excited about today?
Anne Herron; Founder and Product Strategist;Comcast NBCUniversal
attendeeHi, Barbara. Hello, everyone. Thank you. We're here to celebrate a group of dedicated and resilient founders who, in our current climate, had to find a new equilibrium on their journey. They've spent time upfront to invest in themselves and their companies, and we're here to watch them bring it to reality.
Steve Bachman;CEO and Angel Investor
attendeeHi, Barbara. Great to be here. It's been wonderful to see the great progress the teams have made. Doing programs like this are incredibly hard. They're incredibly hard to do when you can share a coffee together, sit in a conference room together and work on a whiteboard together. It's been amazing to see the progress and the growth these companies have made in these unprecedented times, and everybody is going to be really, really pleased with this wonderful show.
Ruth Dawson
executiveHi, Barbara, I'm really excited about today. I'm looking forward to seeing the progress these entrepreneurs have made, especially in an unprecedented time like this. Doing this all virtually must have been a challenge, so hats off to them.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeSo mentors, let's get into it. We're now ready for our first pitch of The Farm Demo Day 2020. Straight up is Mini City, who have a unique vision for resolving one of the biggest issues experienced by the homeless. Let's hear from their CEO.
India Hayes; The Farm's Mini City; Founder
attendeeHello, everyone. My name is India Hayes. I'm the CEO and Co-Founder of Mini City. Now before I talk about our solution, I'm going to talk about the problem that we're addressing. Chronic homelessness is a major problem in our nation with lack of ID being one of the largest obstacles that's faced by the homeless. There's over 0.5 million people experiencing homelessness on any given night in the United States, and 50% of them do not have access to ID. Now lack of access to ID leads to a lack of self-efficiency, and this leads to lack of access to government benefits that exist for the homeless. In the words of one of our former citizens, sometimes it feels like you need ID to get identification. Over 50% of the homeless are not able to get access to housing, Medicaid, food stamps, job opportunities and more due to lack of ID. And they're not the only ones in this ecosystem. There's also CBOs or community-based organizations, that offer assistance to the homeless, but they are extremely overworked with heavy, heavy case flows. They focus on those that do have ID, leaving those without ID with their needs unmet. Their current solutions require banking information, address history and more that the homeless just do not have. In the words of one of our first customers, "Our organization has been around for centuries, and lack of ID still remains one of the largest problems." So Mini City is truly innovation in the face of the status quo. We're a mobile solution that meets the homeless where they are. In less than 10 minutes, they can apply for ID with our software tablet solution that's provided on-site at partner locations. We streamline over 50 authorization and notarization forms, so that we can quickly get ID. Those other solutions? They don't do that. There are additional players in this ecosystem as well. There's enterprise corporations that are motivated to tap into grassroots organizations. They want to better serve the under- and unbanked. They want to expand their services that are backed by benefits, and they want to expand their community outreach. In the words of our current fintech banking partner, "We are in dire need of connecting the disadvantaged to the services that we provide. We need that grassroots level engagement that Mini City offers. " So Mini City is a tech solution that's rooted in compassion. We streamline the admin process of obtaining legal forms of identification for the homeless and homeless care providers. We're the nexus that allows these different groups to communicate effectively, share important data and facilitate ways to reach their organizational goals. And these aren't just statements. We have the traction to back it up. We currently have 18 paid customer sites and potential partnerships with groups around our nation. We have phenomenal press and media, but I'm not here today to just talk about our press and media. We have a great team that has over 15 years of experience in tech, design and advocacy. We operate like a family. And we treat our customers like family and that's because some of us literally are family members. I'm India Hayes. I'm the CEO and Co-Founder of Mini City. And I know with your genuine support, we can make this so-called hidden epidemic of homelessness brought to light with tech, compassion and care. Thank you.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeThat's an inspiring pitch to kick off our broadcast. And thank you, India from Mini City. It's just great to see start-ups that have such a focus on social responsibility. What do you like about Mini City, Steve?
Steve Bachman;CEO and Angel Investor
attendeeBarbara, I love Mini City's mission, dedication and focus. I don't know about you, but I and everybody else has been challenged over the last couple of months doing simple things like getting records. For me, I'm challenged just renewing a driver's license, and I'm not homeless. Imagine being homeless and the challenges that the organizations are facing today. You may not be aware that Columbia University just came out with a study, and they expect homelessness to increase by another 45%. So these organizations that support the homeless need some kind of efficiencies and new tools to make things happen. Mini City's is ready today and ready today to make a big difference.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeThanks, Steve. That's really great insight into the social enterprise. I'm wondering, Anne, what impact do you think this company can make?
Anne Herron; Founder and Product Strategist;Comcast NBCUniversal
attendeeThanks, Barbara. I love this team. I think that they are striving to build a better future for the underserved. And India and Herold have the ability, an innate ability, to share their vision and have people believe in them and follow them. What's most interesting to me is the opportunity that they have to apply the same model to other sectors, like travelers or victims of natural disasters. I think they're spot on.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeSome really valuable feedback there. Changing gears now. I want to introduce a team who are here to convince you that contracts, and the often complex process of contracting, doesn't have to be complicated. Here is DocQ.
Jason Kadarusman;The Farm's DocQ;Founder
attendeeHi, everyone. My name is Jason, CEO and Co-Founder of DocQ. At DocQ, we're on a mission to simplify contract life cycle. According to Harvard Business Review, businesses could lose up to 40% of value on a given deal because of inefficient contract. This means that for every $1 million in contracted sales, there is revenue leakage of up to $400,000. During the past 10 years, my co-founders and I worked at several manufacturing companies as consultants. And during our time at customer sites, we saw many pain points with regards to contracting. One of those customers is Hanna. Hanna here is a sales rep, working on a new contract deal with Emily. But before she can get a contract over to Emily, she's got to go through her boss and legal. At first, she will make a copy of a similar contract, updated with customer info and inventory of goods to be sold, which comes from different sources. Then she sends it on over to her boss and legal to get their stamp of approval. They make their edits, update the contract with terms, discounts, et cetera, which also comes from different sources. Once they're done, they send it back to Hanna. She consolidates that contract, hopefully, with no contradictions. And finally, sending it on over to Emily. If Emily wants changes to the contract, this whole loop of inefficiencies starts all over again. Like myself, you've all seen this and probably live with this in your work life day-to-day. And we know there are hundreds of contract life cycle management solutions out there that tries to solve this through multisource integration. Multisource integration is the ability to populate a single contract from different sources like customer and inventory database. However, our competitors don't do this well. It either ends up as a do-it-yourself, a mix of internal and external means or outsourced to me and my co-founders. Knowing this, we built our own multisource integration solution for contracting. DocQ's multisource integration is out-of-the-box ready with the ability for any company to implement their own rules, exceptions and/or logic that fits with their unique business processes. This means no more does Hanna need to manage those contracts with e-mails, file share, customer and inventory databases -- she can manage what used to be contracting chaos in a much simpler, faster and more unified solution. And we're the best team to develop it. With our 20-plus years of experience as systems integration experts, we have the technical know-how to build and develop multisource integration with scalability and network security in the forefront. If you're currently spending too much time managing application chaos, but you'd rather bring order and simplicity to your contract life cycle, then look no further than DocQ. Thank you.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeOrder and simplicity, I really like the sound of that. Thank you very much, Jason. In the corporate world, contracting is the bane of every project manager. So what do you think of this business, Ruth?
Ruth Dawson
executiveThanks, Barbara. I think there's a lot of opportunity in this space. Being able to tackle multisource integration and make it work seamlessly, dealing with a variety of disparate systems and inputs will make this solution work to really improve that workflow. Also leveraging blockchain for this makes a lot of sense from a security perspective. I'm impressed by the expertise that this team has as systems integrators, and that really gives them the understanding to effectively tackle this.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeGreat comments there. I'm curious, Anne, what are your thoughts?
Anne Herron; Founder and Product Strategist;Comcast NBCUniversal
attendeeI think that they -- their solution is likely saving weeks of time annually with their streamlined workflow.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeThat's fantastic, Anne, and thank you for that insight. Let's turn to a unique approach to influencer marketing from the young team at Endorsify.
Sun Lee;The Farm's Endorsify;Founder
attendeeHi. My name is Sun, and I am representing Endorsify. I'm 22. So for those that like labels, I'm Gen Z, and we have $44 billion in buying power or 40% of consumer shopping. So let's talk about that. For those of you who are 30 or 40, you're used to seeing billboards, commercials and ads. And that's how you make your decisions on what to buy, what to watch. But my generation, well, let's just say, authenticity means a lot to us. Nearly 100% of Gen Z say they trust recommendations from peers over advertising. And so today's authentic marketing means nothing more than influencer marketing. And today, I thought I'd tell you about what that is, what we are doing about that and why the industry needs Endorsify. So influencer marketing is when someone like Kim Kardashian promotes a product to her large social media audience. Now Kim Kardashian charges more than $1 million. So most brands can't leverage or have the opportunity to partner with the mega influencers like Kim. Instead, they can partner with micro influencers with follower counts between 5 to 500,000 and 5 to 10x more engagement rates than the megas. Brands can leverage these micros more effectively and achieve better return on investment than the Kim Kardashians of the world. But there's a big problem of arbitrary pricing for user-generated content. Influencers will just spit up how much they want to get paid, and brands don't have a clue whether that's a fair value, right? A big information asymmetry. So we solved it by creating a beautiful model using data science, machine learning and AI. We thoroughly analyzed all our collected influencer data, along with historical trends, current economic conditions, industry developments, seasonality, location. And we built a proprietary pricing algorithm that reflects the most current representation of the changing marketplace, telling brands whether an influencer was over- or undervalued. So you can think of us as the Kelley Blue Book for pricing influencer ad space or the FICO credit score for measuring the partnership worthiness of influencers. And in an increasingly e-commerce-driven future, niche influencers are all the more important. And Endorsify helps protect industry constituents without compromising authenticity. Thanks for listening.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeAnd thank you, Sun from Endorsify. Making a world of influencers more accessible to brands everywhere is always a great idea. What do you like about this team, Steve?
Steve Bachman;CEO and Angel Investor
attendeeI've been in sales for a long time, and it's very, very hard to get pricing right. In fact, everybody says, "You never know it's right, but you only know it's wrong." And I really love what Endorsify is doing with their data science and analytics that helps figure out pricing, which is changing on an ongoing basis. With influencer marketing markets growing at over 30% a year compounded, brands need to find a way to get the pricing and get it right. And I only see one solution out there, and that's Endorsify's.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeGood comments there. And Ruth, could you use this for your Instagram?
Ruth Dawson
executiveOh, definitely, Barbara. I think the concept of a marketplace that leverages aspects of artificial intelligence, both machine learning and data science, can have real promise for both the influencers as well as brands, allowing both sides of the equation to be targeted on what they're looking for. The aspect of leveraging artificial intelligence to determine pricing is also very unique. I think they have a great concept, and this has a lot of promise.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeThat's just wonderful, Ruth. Thank you. Originally a start-up themselves, entrepreneurialism is in Comcast's DNA. That's one of the main reasons they have founded such an amazing program for next-gen tech companies. [Presentation]
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeOur next founder is thinking up a better way for brands to engage with their customers in the online space. Here's team Tegger.
Renato Carregha;The Farm'sTegger;Founder
attendeeHi. I'm Renato. Have you ever gotten the eerie sensation that ads seem to read your mind? If you have, it's not a coincidence and it's not magic. Ads are targeted based on very precise data. This data is generated when you browse online and is stored on files called cookies, which you've probably heard of. These cookies are sold to brands that then place ads on websites for you to see. This information is hugely valuable. In fact, it's worth $27 billion. That's right. $27 billion were spent last year just on the data used to target advertising outside social media. So your data is hugely valuable. However, what are you getting in return? If you're like most users, you're getting absolutely nothing. Tegger gives you the tools to take back control of your data, choose when you want to share it and get rewarded when you share it. With Tegger, you can start browsing today and start getting rewards for both browsing and filling out surveys on your favorite content sites. This is Tegger in action. As you can see, it's a very simple widget. It doesn't require any software downloads, and it doesn't require a user to change his behavior online significantly. You simply generate your account using social media or your e-mail and can start browsing for rewards immediately. We give you a profile where you can follow along on your earnings, fill out surveys to get additional rewards and get more levels on our system and the marketplace where you exchange your tokens for rewards with attractive brands, such as Uber and Cornershop. We've built this with a very talented team. I have deep experience in aligning incentives through token mechanisms, having been the main blockchain adviser to Mexico's first successful initial coin offering and having launched the country's first cryptocurrency investment fund. Cristian, our CTO, has spent the last 6 years developing consumer-facing apps and has launched a successful digital app in Colombia. We have a team of skilled developers and data scientists working with us and strategically placed advisers in the digital media and digital product landscapes in Latin America. If you'd like to start getting rewards for browsing, join us on tegger.io. You can generate your accounts and also tell us your favorite sites where you'd like to start getting rewards for browsing. Join us in creating a fair data revolution. Thank you.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeA fair data revolution, that's a big idea from Renato. And Anne, is this a good solution for the post-cookie world?
Anne Herron; Founder and Product Strategist;Comcast NBCUniversal
attendeeI think a post-cookie world is a thing in the future. Cookies are everywhere. And as long as users want relevant advertisements, the platform is validated. I love that they're using gamification for this, and I think they're going to be very successful.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeThere is so much this tool can potentially tell companies about their customers. Do you agree with that, Steve? What do you think?
Steve Bachman;CEO and Angel Investor
attendeeWe all know that rewards programs work. We have lots of them in our wallets. I can't imagine how Tegger will not be a success in bringing the proven rewards programs to content consumption. I'm ready to sign up.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeThanks very much, Steve. Moving on to our next pitch. We have a social enterprise from a large team of some extremely smart people. Welcome, Menergi.
Takaunia Carstarphen;The Farm's Menergi;Founder
attendeeI'm TK, and I'm the Co-Founder at Menergi. I would like to introduce you to one of my personal heroes, Mr. C. Ron Allen. He's the CEO of KOP Mentoring Network, and KOP's mission is to help youth foster leadership and academic success. He's mentored over 4,000 kids in my community, and KOP's programming has not only impacted the lives of African-American youth but Haitian and Latino youth as well. I had the privilege of being one of those kids. The majority of the kids served at KOP are minorities. Minorities make up 41.1% of the American population but only receive 6.9% of the $76 billion granted for foundations annually. Now Menergi concludes that it's due to minority-led nonprofits lacking access to essential relationships beyond their race and ethnic backgrounds. To gain funding, nonprofit leaders must forge relationships with decision-makers at foundations. Unfortunately, the majority of those decision-makers are nonminorities. Now research shows in America, social circles tend to be dominated by the people of the same race and ethnic backgrounds. Think about your social circles. I know that's true for mine. This lack of a friend-to-friend setup naturally puts many minority-led nonprofits at a disadvantage when it comes to access to capital. Mr. C. Ron applied for a grant for 14 years and got declined every single time. It wasn't until he met the grantor that his application was considered the next year. This supports what we already know. Philanthropy is an industry built heavily on relationships. In fact, 70% of foundations don't even accept unsolicited proposals. Menergi understands that, and we want to help the KOPs of the world. Menergi is an ecosystem that provides institutional donors access to a diverse pool of nonprofits and communities to support. The platform enables the fostering of new relationships by reinventing the way nonprofits showcase themselves and their impact. Think of us as the Match.com in the philanthropy space. Menergi is a community that is enhanced by technology but driven by our team. Everyone has a different technical background. But if I had to describe us as one, I would say that we're social change makers. Collectively, we have about 20 years in the nonprofit space, and we share the mission to serve the underrepresented. Now we visited the top 50 foundations and checked out their websites. 72% of them emphasized the importance of diversity. And yet minority communities only received 6.9% of the $76 billion granted from foundations annually. Now Menergi doesn't think that foundations are intentionally overlooking minorities here in America. We believe that the decision-makers at foundations' hearts are in the right place. They just need a partner to help them execute their vision. Our goal is to repurpose some of that $76 billion and increase that 6.9% of the money given to diverse communities. If you're a minority-led nonprofit looking for new connections and if you're a foundation looking to put money behind your desire for diversity, visit menergi.network. So together, we can create meaningful relationships with people doing the work that matter the most. I'm TK, and thank you for your time.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeThank you, TK from Menergi. This has fantastic potential for connecting not-for-profits to the financial support they need. Anne, what are your thoughts?
Anne Herron; Founder and Product Strategist;Comcast NBCUniversal
attendeeThank you, Barbara. This is one of the teams that I had the pleasure of working with directly. And I know through their journey, they were presented with some challenge, and they clearly showed that tenacity pays off. I think that they're 100% on target to build a company to support underserved.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeSteve, what are your thoughts?
Steve Bachman;CEO and Angel Investor
attendeeBarbara, I'm on the Board of 3 not-for-profits. And I got to tell you, grants and fundraising is hard. It's really, really hard even when you have the connections. This process is a very high-touch, low-tech approach, and thank goodness for Menergi because we really need a new way to do this. I can't wait to get our hands on the Menergi platform and see what it can do for us.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeThank you very much, Steve. You're watching a very special broadcast of Comcast NBCUniversal's The Farm Demo day, meeting some of the brightest minds and hearing their visionary ideas. As we approach the halfway point of our show today, I want to introduce a team who are using technology to change lives for the better. Please welcome, mettleAI.
Razi Syed;The Farm's mettleAI;Founder
attendeeMy name is Razi, and I'm the CEO of mettleAI, and we created a platform to measure mental health care delivery more objectively. I'm sure you've heard of the stats on the top, but one thing I wanted to highlight were the stats on the bottom. Even if you're fortunate enough to receive mental health care, on average, more than half the people who receive treatment across all mental illnesses fail to recover. Imagine going to the dentist to get your wisdom tooth removed, and they told you that they only have a 50% chance of being able to take it out. We need to challenge ourselves to have higher expectations in mental health care. Mental health care, since conception, has been known to be very imprecise. The assessments used for measuring progress and for diagnostic purposes are overly burdensome on patients and bring in further inaccurate and even biased information. The current model is also heavily reactive rather than proactive, which means that oftentimes, you receive help when it's too late. So my team and I have built something to start making a dent in this problem. We have developed a platform that allows for continuous objective and precise assessments of behavioral health. Grounded in some of the latest research in biometric measurements and predictive analytics, we leverage real-time passive data from phones and wearable devices that quantify risk identifiers that psychiatrists and other mental health care professionals might look at very subjectively. So in other words, we quantify things like stress, appetite, mood, energy and more and giving a much better image of how that patient is doing. And with all of this information, health care providers are empowered with a complete picture of their patient's mental health with clinically actionable insights. On the patients' side of the app, patients are able to view their treatment plan, medication they need to take and access to modules directly catered to their needs, meaning we take previous behaviors and symptoms of mental illnesses into creating a unique experience for them behind the scenes. With the data that we collect passively, health care providers are able see how their patients are progressing. And equipped with this data, they are able to tailor treatment plans specific to that patient to improve patient outcomes in a much more proactive rather than reactive way. We have built a strong team with leading researchers, professors and mental health professionals, both within our internal team and within our advisory Board. For example, Dr. Jürgen Rehm is the most cited author in the realm of substance abuse. On top of that, we're working with some of the top leading research organizations and health care organizations in Canada and in the U.S. To tell you a little bit more about myself, I'm studying computer science at Harvard. But before I started, I suffered from severe mental illnesses and hard drug addictions. So I have a deep connection with this issue, and I'll do anything to make it easier for the millions of people suffering. And we'd love your support. First things first, with COVID-19, researchers are estimating that 1 in 3 Americans are exhibiting signs of clinical depression and anxiety. Let's work together in reducing the stigma around mental illnesses and make sure that your friends and family are doing okay. Secondly, since you can't download our platform off the App Store, it's prescribed from your health care provider. If you're currently going through treatment today, please pass on information about mettleAI to your health care provider, and we can work with them to implement our platform within their practice. Thank you so much for your time.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeThank you, Razi, for sharing your story and using your experience to create an inspiring health care innovation. Ruth, how do you think this could influence the health care sector?
Ruth Dawson
executiveI think something like this could really have a huge impact and can influence this sector. The stats in the area of mental health are alarming. And as Razi points out, there is certainly an uptick in depression with the COVID-19 situation. Collecting the data passively through wearables and your phone and then leveraging machine learning to detect patterns and identify deterioration early on can really be a game changer in this space. I think this has real promise, and Razi's personal story here shows his passion for this.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeAnd what do you think, Anne? Could this become the new must-have for mental health treatment?
Anne Herron; Founder and Product Strategist;Comcast NBCUniversal
attendeeI think that using AI to predict onset and prevent relapses is a brilliant mission. And in a time where we have so little human interaction, this is especially valuable. Razi is the sole founder, but he has enough heart for 3. And I know this is a platform that we all need.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeThank you, Anne. Each of our founders have spent the last 3 months working with The Farm in Atlanta, Georgia, molding their business ideas into the pitches you see here today. This space at The Farm is about to host something new and very exciting. Please welcome Comcast's Jenna Kurath.
Jenna Kurath
executiveHi. I'm Jenna Kurath, Vice President of Start-up Partner Development. I hope you're enjoying the show. Earlier this year, Comcast NBCUniversal launched SportsTech, an accelerator program dedicated to investing in and developing the next great sports technologies. The program is designed in a way to give start-ups unprecedented access to sport professionals, teams and leagues from around the world, so they can address the challenges and opportunities in the world of sports. We are looking for the best sports tech start-ups to join our growing list of partners: NBC Sports; Sky Sports; Golf Channel; NASCAR; USA Swimming; U.S.A. Ski & Snowboard (sic) [ U.S. Ski & Snowboard ]; our latest partner, USA Cycling; as well as Comcast Ventures. We are seeking innovative technology that elevates the fan engagement experience, e-sports, venue and events innovation, athlete/player performance improvements and more.
William Connors
executiveThe SportsTech accelerator is a vehicle by which all future founders in the sports tech world will want to bring their innovative ideas to share with the rest of the globe.
Will McIntosh
executiveIt's just a really unique opportunity for any company that's focused on developing technology or innovative solutions for sports.
William Connors
executiveFounders will instantly have access to an unprecedented amount of mentors that will help their idea take life.
Will McIntosh
executiveWhen you bring in our league partners, you don't see these kind of opportunities come by for most entrepreneurs. We will help companies find opportunities inside of the broader Comcast ecosystem.
William Connors
executiveNobody in the world distributes broader, more sports than Comcast NBCUniversal. The fact that we own professional sports teams, we're in e-gaming, we're in over 140 venues around the world, we are the most logical person to bring forth this consortium and do what we're about to do.
Jenna Kurath
executiveSo check us out on comcastsportstech.com, follow us on social and tell all your favorite start-ups to apply. Now back to the show.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeWhat an opportunity for new technology in the world of sports. And thanks, Jenna, for showing us what exciting things are on the horizon. Now back to today's founder pitches. Next up, we have a concept that could revolutionize the way e-commerce stores think about logistics and grow their businesses. Please welcome Proxii's founder.
John Ladaga
attendeeHi. My name is John Ladaga, and I am so thrilled to be here to share with you my passion for what's going on in the e-commerce world. Now what you may not be aware of is that there is a dirty little secret that most people don't know about e-commerce. And actually, it's not so little. When it comes to small- to medium-sized e-commerce companies that are growing and building their supply chains up, they tend to reach a tipping point, where they've been stretched beyond their level of expertise. And they're searching and struggling, and they don't know where to go or who to ask for help in order to make their supply chains scale effectively. We have the answers for those companies right now. One of the biggest hurdles these companies run into when they're scaling is finding the perfect third-party logistics partner. When business is booming and you've outgrown doing fulfillment from your living room, you turn to a 3PL for help. 3PLs have large warehouses and advanced machinery and can help take a growing e-commerce company to the next level. But choosing and selecting the perfect 3PL is a massive, hairy decision. There are over 10,000 options in the United States alone. And choosing a 3PL is sort of like using the yellow pages to search for a good restaurant in a city that you've never been to before. Think about that: no menus, no pictures, no reviews and definitely no prices. Proxii, our solution, is like handing these companies Yelp. We make it super easy to search, evaluate and select the best 3PLs, and it's so easy to use. All the company has to do is answer a few questions. It takes like 2 minutes, and we instantly display a ranked list of the top 10 3PLs that meet their individual criteria. And they can search and compare side-by-side. And when they're ready, all they have to do is confirm their top 5 choices, and we'll connect these companies with important references. We will schedule virtual warehouse tours, and we will streamline a competitive bid process for them, so that they can get the best service at the very best price. We are saving these e-commerce companies time so that they can focus on literally anything else. And we are just getting started with Proxii. We are building up the team and have a road map to help these companies proactively manage and view their entire distribution supply chain, so that they can make smart decisions at the right time. Again, my name is John Ladaga with Proxii, and we are on a mission to make supply chain decisions easier for growing e-commerce companies. And if you know anyone who works for a growing e-commerce company and you haven't seen or heard from them in a while, it's probably because they're running around with their hair on fire trying to fix their broken supply chain. Give them my e-mail. We would love to make their life just a little bit easier. Thank you.

attendeeThank you, John. I like the sound of that. It's great to see a company reflecting the demands of a dynamic and a changing industry. And Ruth, I'm wondering, what do you think of this concept?
Ruth Dawson
executiveThanks, Barbara. I think there's a lot of relevance here, and all the more so with the COVID situation and more of our shopping shifting to e-commerce than ever before. There is a leap that smaller e-commerce companies need to make when they're scaling up, and the creation of this marketplace of third-party logistic companies is really filling a void for the smaller e-commerce sector who need to scale their supply chain.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeAnd what about you, Steve? Do you think this has the power to shake up the booming online marketplace?
Steve Bachman;CEO and Angel Investor
attendeeProxii is definitely up to the challenge. For all resellers, that online bookseller out of Seattle has really set the bar from a logistics perspective. As consumers, we are looking for an absolutely wonderful experience. I think Proxii, with its ability and revolutionary marketplace, can deliver that solution. And with the growth of online retailing, I can't imagine how they're not going to be a tremendous success.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeThat's great perspective, Steve. Thank you. Next in The Farm Demo Day broadcast, we have an innovation for the health care sector. Here to talk us through it is the CEO of ilomen.
Philomena Wright;The Farm's ilo App;Founder
attendeeMy name is Philomena. I have been a nurse for over 16 years. Not only am I a nurse, I'm also a patient who have experienced the pain of poor follow-up care due to chronic illness. And I'm not alone. Every year, over 440 (sic) [ 440,000 ] people die in the United States due to gaps in care resulting from ineffective follow-up care. Doctors' hands are tied because today, they do not have the ability to provide this kind of follow-up care they would like. They don't have visibility into what is going on with their patients once the patient leaves their office. This disconnect in follow-up care leads to crowded waiting rooms with unnecessary medical visits. Here is an example of what follow-up care looks like today. Meet. [ Mary Ann ]. [ Mary Ann ] is a diabetic patient with a high blood pressure. She sees an endocrinologist and her cardiologist and her primary care doctor. She gets overwhelmed because her life revolves around going from one doctor to another. And at the same time, her condition worsens. Her primary care doctor asks her to take her blood pressure daily, write it on a piece of paper and bring it with her on her next visit. But of course, she forget the paper on her next visit. Asking [ Mary Ann ] to provide this essential data on a piece of paper is unreliable and inadequate. Medical professionals are using all sorts of technology to offer virtual care to patient, especially to this world. However, when it comes to continuous virtual patient care and patient engagement and follow-up, it is still a massive problem. Ineffective follow-up care leads to discontinuity in care, poor chronic disease management and poor access to timely care, all of which lead to adverse health outcomes. We have developed one of the world's first virtual health care continuous improvement app with patient engagement statistics that impresses even the most cynical medical professional out there. ilo is a HIPAA-secured, efficient virtual care platform that streamlines doctor-to-patient communication for follow-up through physician web app and patient mobile app. ilo is built by health care professionals for health care professionals, and we are hyper-focused on providing exactly what the doctors need to enable and provide follow-up care for their patients. ilo is not just a telemedicine platform. ilo App is a virtual health care continuous improvement app that is quick to connect and easy to use -- immediately value to doctors and patients and telemedicine capacity. Now let me show you how ilo works. The doctor invite patient to download the app on her phone. Now she can send the blood pressure reading to the doctor every time she takes it through this app. And this keep [ Mary Ann ] accountable. This data aggregates on the doctor's portal for the doctor to evaluate the effectiveness of care and to make timely changes as need be. The doctor can easily connect with [ Mary Ann ] on regular interval for telehealth follow-up using the ilo platform instead of [ Mary Ann ] driving to the clinic. Right now, it's a great opportunity to enter the health care space. It is ripe for disruption, and our continuous care platform is positioned to improve the care and life of chronic care patients. Now is the time to act. For every day we wait, we risk the health of people who you may or may not know already suffer from chronic illness. If you are a doctor or you're a patient that is suffering from a chronic disease, please reach out to us. My name is Philomena Wright, and I thank you for listening.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeThank you for that, Philomena. Could these mean the end of long lines at the doctor? I hope so. I'm sure that's something we'd all love. Let's hear from you, Ruth.
Ruth Dawson
executiveAs someone who just had a Zoom call with a doctor for a follow-up appointment for the first time last week, I'm all over this. This is an area that needs disruption, and the COVID-19 situation pushes this into the forefront in a key way to effectively manage care while keeping everyone safe. I think there is tremendous potential here, and I'm really excited about this one.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeHow about you, Anne? What are your thoughts?
Anne Herron; Founder and Product Strategist;Comcast NBCUniversal
attendeeOh, Barbara, the idea of modernizing the digital health care system is spot on. Like Philomena, I also have some firsthand knowledge of the health care technology failure. And I don't think it could be more timely. On top of that, Philomena, Miles and [ David ] compose a team that is full of heart with a strong unified vision. I wish them all the success in the world. We all need it.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeThanks so much, Anne. Next up, we have a dynamic take on how globalization is offering new business opportunities for content sharing.
Farbod Mansorian;The Farm's Unilingo;Founder
attendee[Foreign Language] Hi. I'm Farbod, CEO of Unilingo. Imagine, I continue to talk in my mother tongue for the rest of this video. How would you feel? That is how more than 50% of all YouTube users feel like when they come across a video that is not translated. Luckily, I moved to Canada, learned English and never needed to watch another translated video, until I wanted to share a TED Talk with my mother. But I couldn't. So I did what any good child would do: I dubbed it for her. I'm an entrepreneur, and I love to solve problems. So I took that same TED Talk and had it dubbed in Spanish, a language spoken by more than 400 million people. [Presentation]
Farbod Mansorian;The Farm's Unilingo;Founder
attendeeToday, that video has been viewed over 1 million times. But we didn't stop there. We analyzed 10,000 comments on YouTube, and we saw that this is a real problem. Translation, in fact, is the quickest growth hack any creator can take advantage of to multiply their viewership. But it takes lots of administrative work, and creators should focus on creating more content and not translation. Unilingo helps solve this problem by giving creators the tools they need to reach a global audience. And we are already in markets. I have translated 700 videos, generating over 10 million monthly organic views, and we're at $12,000 in monthly recurring revenue. Take one of our customers, Derek. He's the creator behind Veritasium, an educational YouTube channel. He spent weeks and thousands of dollars to make 1 video, but his reach is limited. Today, if he were to launch a Spanish channel, it could generate tens of millions of views, which he did with our help. Today, his Spanish channel has over 28 million views, 380,000 subscribers and $20,000 in ad revenue. And it is growing 10% month-over-month. That is because we carefully selected his top videos, translated them and posted them. And he didn't have to lift a finger. Derek has full ownership and control over his videos, no matter how many languages they're translated into. Users pay a $3,000 monthly fee to dub 80 minutes of their videos, and we take 5% of the ad revenue generated by the translated content. I know what you're all thinking: why can't Google do this? Well, they do, but they're 60% accurate at best. And it turns viewers away. There are translations marketplace such as Rev and Voices and channel management agencies and video curation platforms, but Unilingo brings it all together under one single platform. We work with some of the best creators with an average subscriber count of 7 million, including WatchMojo and Evan Carmichael. We are supported by some of the smartest people in the YouTube space, including Matt, the Head of Sales at FameBit, an influencer marketing platform later required by YouTube. We are a passionate team of people about translation with over 50 years of combined experience in localization, audio engineering and YouTube growth. Now if you want to see the impact that our translated videos are making, go to YouTube and search for Unilingo. Thank you.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeWow, thank you, Farbod. This platform could break down communication barriers across the globe. Let's hear from you, Ruth. What do you think?
Ruth Dawson
executiveI really like the idea of leveraging artificial intelligence and machine learning to select top content and then allow the content providers across the world to get more reach through translation -- makes it super compelling. This year's YouTube stat show that YouTube is still bigger than all the other social media platforms. So being able to make more content available to more eyeballs can really be a game changer for content creators across the globe.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeThanks, Ruth. I'd also like to get Anne's perspective, if I could.
Anne Herron; Founder and Product Strategist;Comcast NBCUniversal
attendeeSure. Thank you, Barbara. I think that Unilingo has really impressive numbers and views and recurring income. Derek, one of their customers, actually doubled his money, his investment, in 90 days. So it's important to understand that in some cases, the message is completely lost when we employ localization. So their platform is amazing to me from a product standpoint. I've absolutely seen this issue when working with financial institutions and other sectors where there is a specific taxonomy, and that translation that we -- the options that we have now totally wreck the translation, and customers lose trust. So I'm very anxious to use their product.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeThanks, Anne. That's spot on. Entrepreneurs from The Farm, LIFT Labs and SportsTech are so lucky to be backed by Comcast NBCUniversal and all it has to offer, including access to an incredible ecosystem of executives, advisers and mentors to help them launch and grow their businesses. This has been such an exciting broadcast, witnessing the next-generation of tech innovation make their business debuts. To round out an outstanding day of pitches, we bring you a company who has created a product that is most relevant in this time of digital addiction. Here is the CEO from Milk the Moment.
Courtney Eason;The Farm's MILK 3.0;Founder
attendeeHello. My name is Courtney "Coko" Eason. Everyone calls me Coko. I'm from Nashville, Tennessee, and I'm the Co-Founder and CEO of Milk the Moment. I used to be an entertainer, songwriter and producer and a boxer plus a boxing coach. And then I hosted events all across the nation, and I did this all at the same time. I was one busy woman, and one thing I used to tell myself is I have no time in the day to do anything except to work. But that was far from the truth when my iPhone sent me a screen time report. And I realized I was spending close to 13 hours on my phone surfing the Internet, watching YouTube videos, scrolling through Instagram and checking my e-mail. It's not that I didn't have enough hours in the day, I just wasn't spending my time wisely. Apparently, I'm not the only one. The average adult only has 43 minutes of free time in their day, and research shows that the smartphone is to blame. We check our phones every 10 minutes. We spend 3 to 4 hours on social media each day. That's like 7 years of our lives spent scrolling, sending messages and surfing the Internet. Millions of Americans are starting to notice these smartphone habits within themselves, and they're trying to improve by doing digital detoxes. But digital detoxes don't work. You have to have massive amounts of willpower, and you end up cycling back to your same old ways. That's because going after behavior change is really, really difficult. Me and my team at Milk the Moment, we believe in habit change, going after those small triggers and actions that lead to behavior. My Co-Founder, Khristlyn Bellamy, has experience in neuroscience and human behavior, and we've all come together to create an amazing habit-breaking formula that we've placed inside our products called the MILK app. MILK is a mobile application that helps you with your smartphone habits. We put close to 2 months of time back into your life. It's fun. It's gamified. It's competitive, and it's rewarding. Here's how it works. You enter into the app and answer a few questions, so we can get to know your day-to-day lifestyle. Then we'll start sending you tips and tricks on how to break those habits and add more time back into your day. And then we'll also send you a challenge where we ask you to refrain from using your phone for a certain amount of time. And you're doing this in competition with family, friends, coworkers and other users. Those who are successful at these challenges win badges, digital prizes. You move up in the leaderboard, and you also win entries into a sweepstakes with KASA Hotels. That's right. You can literally win a luxurious, device-free experience at any of their destinations in Mexico. Unlike our competitors who merely track your usage and send you a report at the end of the week, we dig a little deeper. We change those habits. We make it fun and competitive, and we reward you along the way. In the near future, we plan to collaborate with schools and workplaces and even expand our app to other devices like wearables, laptops and tablets. So what would you do with an extra 2 months of time added back into your life? Would you create a business, spend more time with your family, take care of yourself? We want to encourage you to decrease your screen time and increase your me time. Sign up right now to be a VIP exclusive beta tester with the MILK app. Go to www.milkthemoment.com and register now. My name is Courtney "Coko" Eason. Thank you for watching. Let's milk the moment.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeThank you, Coko. I'm sure that's an app I could use. Tell us, Ruth. Can offering reward incentives really change our screen time behavior?
Ruth Dawson
executiveI think the gamification angle here is interesting, and I really see the potential. We all know we spend too much time on our devices. So the gamification and then playing with friends and family can really make a difference. I think this team's passion comes through, and targeting schools is a great approach.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeThank you, Ruth. And Steve, we're giving you the final comment of the show. What do you like about Milk the Moment?
Steve Bachman;CEO and Angel Investor
attendeeWell, Barbara, being of a generation that have used phones to make phone calls, I see a lot of disruption and significant productivity loss from the distractions people have with their phones. Milk the Moment has a real chance to solve a real problem, and that's changing behavior. I love what they've done and how they've tackled the problems through gamification, and it is surely something that needs to be in everybody's behavioral and productivity toolkit. I'm ready to sign up.
Barbara Corcoran;The Corcoran Group;Founder
attendeeThat's a really important final insight, Steve. Thank you very much. What a fantastic bunch of entrepreneurs we've seen here today. Thank you, founders. And I, for one, am wishing you the best of luck with all your ventures. I'd like to offer a huge thank you, before I go, to our 3 mentors. Let's hear it for Ruth Dawson, Anne Herron and Steve Bachman. This has been Comcast NBCUniversal's The Farm Demo Day 2020. Thank you for joining me, Barbara Corcoran. Stay safe, stay healthy. And remember, it takes just one idea, which could be your next idea, to change the world.
